my neighbour would not agreed on making a cut on the concrete, there seems to be limited space between the concrete and fence.

Chrous said they only solution is making a cut on the concrete, do you guys agree? We live in the house at the back

If that is all that they will do then its all they will do. They don't have an unlimited budget for installs to go getting thrusting people in for every job when people don't want the easy install.

I wouldnt accept a cable on the fence.

Also that looks like hotmix, not concrete.

I'd follow the previous posters suggestion and make the trench they need for them, then invite them back to complete the work only they are allowed to do.

Real question is "How much do you want this to happen?"

So it's now the 9th June and the changes in the Telecommunications Amendment Act are now in force.

I have an order on hold due to a neighbour who refuses to sign the consent form. The existing copper duct runs from the street, under his property about 10m.
The installation should be a pull through and require no digging, but his consent is still required and he's still refusing to sign.

I've tried chasing Chorus to find out how the law change affects this situation, but most of the people I've spoken to don't even have a clue the law is changing, let alone are willing to answer either way. All they have confirmed is that they refuse to do anything until they have the consent.

I've tried very hard to reassure and reason with my neighbour, but he is pretty difficult to deal with. He told me main concern is a fear that by allowing fibre to be installed, Chorus will have the right to come in and dig up his garden whenever they please. He seems like the kind of guy that keeps slaves in his basement (Josef Fritzl style), so he probably doesn't want that found out...

Anyone have any advice or ideas?

Our Chorus service delivery manager still haven't given us any details so I don't thing they have it sorted yet. As with anything fibre, things will take a while.

So you ending up paying for the installation???

It seems very frustrated when dealing with the consent team and they don't do anything until neighbour has given permission. Also the designer doesn't want to spend too much time on investigating the alternative options.

Anyone that has dealt with faxing and SIP/VoIP knows it can be a nightmare and many factors outside your control can affect it.

Chorus have found very, very few issues with the above devices. I believe the only problems are where devices are not confirming to the applicable standards for data, modems and distinctive ringing over VOIP - Chorus cannot possibly solve these issues (as you pointed out), but we have advised the vendors and RSPs on what needs to be done.

Even so, I think the only issues we have seen are a subset of SkyTV STBs (sky themselves dont seem too worried about this) and EFTPOS terminals. The majority work fine.

well, I thought yourss was rather more upmarket than ours.

we did it, we paid it.

$92 for pipe, $12.12 for a bag of concrete and one drill saw bit - can't remember what that cost..

They feed the cable down the pipe and do the boxes on walls bit.

Because they wanted to tack the cable to the fence. Other than being an ugly install the issues are, that fence is pretty rotten, and the neighbour has a car business, parks them all over and regularly hits that fence.

did anyone heard anything about the new legislation in place?

Just got off the phone with Vodafone and they tried to put our order under category 1 installation which no consent required. At this stage they were not too sure as the operator at Vodafone said the legislation has not passed thru yet.

Not exactly the same. Pctek's fence has the rails on the side of the posts leaving the gap for the conduit to lie on the ground. I don't see that as being any more attractive than Chorus black duct tacked to the fence. At my sister's place the bottom fence rail was at a uniform height and the TelstraSaturn conduit was clipped to the underside of the bottom rail. You couldn't see it unless you crouched down. Chorus wouldn't run their conduit in the same place so it's clipped to the palings.

So if I leave at Chrous to do the design they will just hang the wire on the fence?

Where can I get the conduit?
