Man, I really feel for those system administrators bearing the brunt of that.  Hang in there guys.

How the NZ media should be explaining DDoS Attacks from extortionists not hackers to the non-technical Kiwi.

What bank do they request you send money to? I'm with Wise and I find they either ask me to send money to an 02-1291-xxxxxxx-xx (BNZ 'Transferwise Ltd' branch) or 04-2021-xxxxxxx-xx (ANZ, 'JP Morgan Chase' branch) account. I'm with Kiwibank so in either cases it's normal for it to take a few hours to process. Unless they're asking you to send money into an ASB account I'd be surprised if it's been instant--most likely it's just been processed as part of the normal hourly(?) batches between banks.

Hope it's gone through by now anyway.

Went through about 5pm, transaction was loaded about 10am. Normally takes less than an hour from ASB NZ and under a minute from HSBC in the UK. Honestly our interbank transactions are a joke here. I can move money between countries quicker than I can move money from ASB to KiwiBank.

I can tell you now the actual transfer takes ~15mins on average. I've noted Wise lately seem to process in a batch after 5pm. So your problem isn't at all related to the transfer times between banks but instead when Wise does the bulkload.

This is totally unaffected and unrelated to todays problems. As I've said before banks have multiple links with often "customer facing" and backend being totally separate in every regard.

Hey guys - thanks for all your messages. Just know we're all on very little sleep actively working on this. The technical among you will have noticed we've implemented some things overnight.

Keeping this message as generic as possible too. If you know me then you know what I do.

As a random member of the public, I appreciate the hard yards being put in here. Hopefully your managers are saying this to you as well but THANK YOU!
