I can't believe that you got 51kbps. I never got close to it even using the best V90 modem known to man (US Robotics Courier).
I don't know the reason for the speeds you are getting.

Maybe it was just being reported as 51kbps? Or connecting at that then immediately falling back to 49kbps due to errors?

Since we are submitting "scientific" data....

April 13th, 2006 1:02pm5422.8 kbps
April 13th, 2006 1:02pm5719.3 kbps
April 13th, 2006 9:23am6144 kbps
April 13th, 2006 9:22am6193.5 kbps
April 13th, 2006 9:22am6167.1 kbps
April 13th, 2006 9:21am6217.1 kbps
April 13th, 2006 9:21am6420.1 kbps
April 11th, 2006 1:52pm7787.1 kbps

That's an average of 6.1Mbps

I upgraded from 1mbs to 2mbs and it hasn't been upgraded for months. I am getting the new data allowance but the speed is still the old speed. ihug said they would give a refund once telecom started speeding it up.
Now I am thinking of getting a new connection (with wireless for psp) but don't know which plan is the best... any ideas?

Word of warning for Byw*fi users (video accelerator); it uses a lot of P2P traffic.

Its all about the speed tests........   And telecom

Im still on 2Mbps cannot afford the extra $10 for 3.5Mbps by the way rember it is advertised as 3.5Mbps this is not 3.5 Megabyte a second it is 3.5 Megabit per second so you will never ever download at 3.5Mb/s

Rember the isps cap you at 3.5Mbps and they will never let you go over that speed and the speed tests are not very acurate just rember that. Once i did a speed test it told me i had 200Kbps  i downloaded a file 30sec after that and i was downloading at 1.8Mbps

Yep, I meant I would get a new wireless router at the same time because right now I only have a 'D-Link DSL-200'. I had a look at the TelstraClear packages http://www.telstraclear.co.nz/products-res/packages/residential_pricing.cfm and was thinking about the $101.90* one, the $111.90 one or the $161.90* one. Having high speeds like that would mean some PC upgrades too though :P (Seeing that I have about 2gbs left right now :o)

I knew that 3.5Mbps wasn't megabytes but I didn't know it was megabits, thanks for clearing that up. (So do I say I have a 2 megabit connection?)

No, it doesn't need improvements - you might need a new pair of glasses. The edit button is there:

As an aside, I am on Ihug's Old "slow" 2mbps plan, and even with capped speeds (supposedly, over my 2gb off peak by about 2gb) I still got a 1763.6 speed test result (jetstreamgames site)

Insert witty remark here!
