Mt Eden, Auckland
Xtra Adventure down-3.5/up-128
when you test in on NZ server like this http://www.nzdsl.co.nz/index.php?module=Speedtest
Download Speed: 308 kbps
Upload Speed: 128 kbps

But if you test in with any server outside NZ what in fact is more important because
there are not many sites in NZ where you need fast internet, the speed is even lower.

Download Speed: 154 kbps
Upload Speed: 98 kbps

I made a complain to Xtra and they told me:

We only promise that you will not go above the speed 3.5Mb/s, but
we never said that there is any minimum under which the speed connection will not go.

So Telecom Sucks and that's it.
I am so happy that the monolopy of the Telecom  will be removed finaly.
Because of that company,New Zealand does not have real Broadband.
And there is no difference if you go to any other company because at the end
everybody buys from the Telecom - they hold the whole network.

First test...

Sixty seconds later...

Upload Speed: 191 kbps (23.9 KB/sec transfer rate)

This is off the end of my woosh account in Riccarton...  so hummmm  sux to be you on those expensive 3.5mbit connectons doesn't it?

However the traceroute was interesting...

Woosh to pair at ape.  As I understand it Telecom don't.  So your test results are based on more than just your Telecom DSL connection.

Frankly I don't think most of the results I've been reading on here are worth the cost of the data.

My neighbours have a 54mbit connection to their provider... do you think they get 54mbits for all their data?

Cheers Don
