TCL 2Mbs/2Mbs plan 1935/1893 (kbps) or or 241.9KBsec/236.6KBsec.

Seems about right I guess

(Khandallah exchange)

Presumably when the plan gets upgraded to 4Mbs downloads will be in the 400+KBsec range?

It's not 4Mb yet.
First of all see what speeds you get when you aren't using wireless to see if that's the problem.

Word of warning for Byw*fi users (video accelerator); it uses a lot of P2P traffic.

Wired test:

Download Speed: 238 kbps (29.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 117 kbps (14.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Maybe I'm on a slower plan?....... I'm pretty sure my usage meter goes up to 7-8 GB every month and i do not get overcharged.

as you can see, I defenetly used more than 5GB in the past, and never been overcharged, so I assume I'm on the 10GB plan. But even if I was on the 5GB one, its my speed somewhat... alarming?

All TCL plans are 2Mbs upload from what I can gather so you ought to be seeing the same range of numbers for upload as for download.

I have a strange thing about my connection that I can't work out. My upload measured 236.6 KB/sec which looked right. But when I tested it in reality it was quite different. Two different real world tests

1. ftp a file to my web server in the US. Max speed 35Kb/sec
2. Set myself up as a ftp server and got a friend in the US who has a 6mbs DSL plan to ftp a file from me. He regularly gets 300KB/sec or more download speeds. But the max speed he could get from me was 30KB/sec which is really strange.

Anybody out there who has any real world experiences with their uploads speeds rather than http tests?

Completely OT, but...

Do a site survey and make sure you're ap isn't on the same channel as something else.  Try to pick a non overlapping channel.

The AP might be trying to auto neg a channel when it restarts, hence why the problem goes away.

Seems a couple of you guys have been upgraded already. While I got the e-mail I am still on 2Mbs down. Maybe on Tuesday (Aug 1?)

I upgraded from a 5mb plan over the phone from work on Friday

They told me I would have the new speed when I got home still old speed, as it was yesterday.
Thought would give it a few days

This morning when I turned the computer on I was off-line to their network.  I rang the help deks, they fixed that problem and at the same time upgraded the speed to 4mb
