Port costs however are, and are as much as $45 for a naked DSL port, and that's before the ISP does anything with it. Strangely non-naked port costs are less than half that...


Another foolish ComCom decision to not split the access price into three components: line rental, dsl service and land line service.

Does chorus REALLY need to charge $45 per port?
that seems a bit steep reallllllllyyyy
I'm sure they can cut costs and charge less, maybe if they didn't pay their executives so much.

That really is a bit on the steep side, as you say. When was the last time this price was adjusted?

I doubt it, content was the main reason too, and sky has most of the content wrapped up in NZ.

Also, that would only affect international bandwidth (not National bandwidth) meaning the problem still exists.
