mercutio: has anyone hit the 100 megabit cap yet?

Haven't seen one yet, but I have a customer on 95 down.

I had 123 down. But 70 limited.
Upgraded firmware to the latest and now 104-105 down, still 70 limited.

I heard from BigPipe some weeks ago that my connection on the TBY (Torbay) exchange is scheduled to be switched on the 10th December to 998.

Have there been any analysis so far to see if the reach of VDSL has been increased as a result of the changes (I was marginal on VDSL previously and could not sync so was switched back to ADSL - this was a few years ago).

ild say you would be right out of the range of vdsl in that case..

Chorus have not made any details public past the statement that 998 will likely extend the reach of vdsl.

Given the use of US0 a stable sync at distance is more likely though.

i'm surprised you could get vdsl provisioned at all. it may be that there's a problem with your line or the path if you're within the coverage map.

well the Chorus capability map shows ADSL. If I put in my address into BigPipe or Spark or Vodafone it says VDSL is possible.
If I put my address into snap, it says its indeterminate.

so perhaps the issue is the way ISPs are using the base data from Chorus and skewing the results to favor VDSL connections where marginal?

Although speedtest is still the same as before..

seems like a reasonable jump for an 8b line.

Odd that it took you a reboot for modem to allow the new speeds though!

How do you know if you have been switched? I'm on a 8b profile with current speeds of 35/10 so hoping for some more download. Just wondering if they tell you or do you just need to restart your modem every few days to check?

it's resync itself. if you're on 10358 or such upload sync ... (really close to 10360) then you'll definitely be on 997, 998 tends to be more like 8 or 9 megabit or 11 or 12 megabit.. (although you still could in theory be at 10358)

you can also look at tone graphs for us0, but i don't know any easy way on non-fritzboxes to do that without downloading "dslstats". (you could figure it out from telnetting to the router... )

chances are if you've been on 35 down for a long time you'll probably go to 50 or thereabouts.

how did you know to restart the modem? it says 1:15 am, they may have changed you over just before then, before they went through and reset all of the connections, so it may have come right by itself..

how did you know to restart the modem? it says 1:15 am, they may have changed you over just before then, before they went through and reset all of the connections, so it may have come right by itself..
