You poor sod though, Skinny is still on the B315s!

 

The northshore is quite insane with the capacity over there.. New towers popping up everywhere.

There are some places where VF may have a better network, but in general spark leave VF in the shadow completely.

 

We found this out the hard way... we're now migrating all our mobile voice/data services back to Spark due to issues with Vodafone.

With unplan now out, those are few and far between.

1024kb: I have both Spark on B315S & Skinny on B618S. The SIM cards are transferable, you just have to create a new profile.

The performance of each SIM is identical in both modems - there's no apparent premium performance delivered by the premium rate Spark account.

I wanted a better modem than the B315S that Spark provided originally, as well as an upgrade from the 120GB plan. To get a B618S from Spark at the time seemed like an avaricious corporate money-grab - the fees were ridiculous just to let me have better performance, upgrade my plan & spend more money with them. If they could do it, that is. If.

Skinny had B618S available in stock, at Spark finding a B618S was like chasing ghosts through mist.

So I bought the B618S from Skinny, upgraded my plan & spend less money with them. In a couple of weeks the Spark contract expires & I shall look upon that experience as an example of a corporation driving it's own interest without having the agility that customers often require.

I'd have been quite content paying Spark more money each month for an upgraded modem & plan. Due to their inability to do this in a timely manner, I will now be even more content paying their subsidiary less money for the modem & plan I wanted.

Interestingly, I cant find any further reference to Sparks 4G wireless RBI plan - 240Gb (Only the 120Gb plan?)

Our contract for the 4G wireless is about up - been happy with the performance but scratching the 240Gb limit about half the time.

About to sign up with Inspire wireless 500Gb plan at "upto"25/5 Mb/s for $100/mth - A lot cheaper than the $135/month with Spark. 1st month free and free installation at the mo as well!.

Skinny 4G plan not available from our rural address currently, but would happily stick with Spark/Skinny if price went down or limit went up.

Yes, very different - They come and do a full external installation of an aerial on the roof and cable to a site inside where the router is set up.

Very surprised that this is on a free promotion currently.

They have been upgrading their network over the last couple of years and have recently improved from 5/1 to 25/5 Mb/s

I have not heard anything bad, might be time to try something new?

There is supposed to be a WISP up the road from us but I have not been able to find any information on it at all. Nothing on any sites indicates it is there, but people swear it is. Only second-hand info so far.

i find WISP's fit into two bins.

1. they broadcast their service broad and fall flat on their face

2. They are near impossible to find apart from word of mouth but have excellent service.

the remaining is ofcourse be big handful that do RBI etc.

the local facebook groups are often an exceptional place to gain contacts for local WISP's.
