Tempting.

I might put a proposal to the Minister of Finance tonight to migrate from Spark. We're with Spark Unplan with Netflix (and pay for Disney), and I can see that if we get Sky Starter, and the Sky Broadband 100 with Disney+ and pay for Netflix, it will be the same price.

Just the whole migration thing to go through without being disconnected for a long period (ie., more than a couple of hours).

The fine print says "New and Returing customers only", assume this means no one with a current sub

Does Sky have a "package builder" before I have to enter my personal details at checkout?

If I select the Sky TV options I want then go to the broadband page to make a selection, my TV selection cart disappears.

As a potential new customer I am considering:

Sky Starter, Sky Entertainment, My Sky+, 900/400 fibre, no router, no landline.

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Got an email from Sky saying my trial has been extended…. the 6 month trial isn’t due to end until September so curious as to when it will be extended to!

“Lightning fast Sky Broadband’s now available across NZ and we couldn’t have done it without you. With your feedback, we’ve been able to make it officially awesome for launch!

As a big thanks for taking part in the trial, we're extending your trial period. You'll enjoy the same service for longer”

Also got the offer of the Disney+

“Want to get 12 months of Disney+ on us?

If you join Sky Broadband at the end of your trial period, you can enjoy 12 months of Disney+ on us!”

I have just emailed Sky for a cost of the options I want.

Response:

$5 Sky + $79 BB = $84 for first month.

$71.49 Sky + $79 BB = $150.49 per month.

Router is provided and must be returned at end of contract.

That tv pricing doesn't look right. You need at least sky starter which is 25.99. PM me some details and I'll check in where this info came from to correct it! Hoping it's a typo...

For Disney+ the offer is for new and returning Disney+ customers, not related to your sky TV package/status

Feedback on the joint tv+bb journey is noted and we're already in the process of building the tools described. I've fed into the team the gap on general pricing and info. From a self service perspective our launch priority was getting our existing base journey in place with this and bb only as a fast follow

Cheers,
Evan

I went down the options and selected: Sky Starter, Entertainment and My Sky+.... then a special offer pops up.

This what I see in my cart after accepting the special offer:

Okay so we went live today, churned while I was at work, everything went well as I configured my router with a second WAN on VLAN10 (previous provider didn't use tagging) - eager test it out from work but because I didn't create access rules on the V10 interface prior to the churn I couldn't connect to anything remotely

Home now and working as expected, only issue is my Disney Plus code says it has already been redeemed have sent @kelots a DM with my account number

Have to say over all its nice been 1ms from work (Also Peered with Vocus) and also not taking a scenic route to Australia for cloud flare sites (including Geekzone)

I recently switched my broadband, TV and landline from Vodafone to Sky.  I'd found HFC increasingly dropping out and the pricing on the Sky fibre package meant that I could switch to fibre at roughly parity cost whereas previously fibre would have cost around an additional $30 per month.

Sky broadband activation was simple enough.  The router was shipped quickly.  The only thing was that whilst the Sky comms advised the activation date without a time and activation didn't occur until 1pm on the day but a call to query that was quickly answered.

I hadn't learned about landline integration until receiving the Sky broadband setup instructions.  Whilst landline is probably redundant for many households nowadays and there is provision for phones to be plugged directly into the ONT, we need it for our elderly parents and it was more convenient for us to retain use of our existing jackpoints given the multi-level layout of our house.  Chorus is responsible for integrating existing internal phone wiring and they advised me to ask Sky to log a fault.  Chorus were then rapidly in touch to do the integration at no cost.

Sky TV setup required a technician visit to install the dish and activate the decoder.  This may be short term with Sky apparently developing a set-top box similar to Vodafones, which I found had a better UI than the MySky box.

Vodafone disconnection was relatively straightforward, though the contact centre could not associate any services with my account which I think relates to my account being a legacy TelstraClear one.  An email to the NZ service centre address posted on this forum (onlinecare@vodafone.com) was responded to promptly and disconnection sorted within 4 days of my first notice.  Fingers-crossed that their billing system works properly.

3 weeks now and so far so good.

Usually you get either an AM or PM appointment for new connections

For Transfer Connections you can put this down to a half hour block

Just got moved across to Sky, using a 2core HEX and PPPoE, happy with the result.

Self install, its plug and play, I elected for no router as I manage my network, if you need Fibre installed its Chorus or whoever your local LFC is

I had to create a VLAN10 sub interface as Bigpipe doesn't use VLAN10, then while at work it simply flipped over
