ShinyChrome:

Is anyone having issues accessing ANZ services this morning? I keep getting errors accessing goMoney on Android.

And I still can't buy a 1tb SSD :(

Yep - definitely.  Haven't been able to access ANZ via GoMoney this morning.

Although yesterday when ANZ were having issues, Google Pay (linked to an ANZ CC) worked fine.

Kiwibank app on my phone is working fine.

I've been seeing intermittent internal server errors when trying to login to ANZ online banking in a web browser over the last few days.

From an architecture design point of view - what can do they do to fight this? I know that Cloudflare can help but surely they've tried something similar already?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Team Green is fine. Team Blue (myself) is not as everyone can see.

This is officially the worst day of my career to date. I just had my boss drop off a care package to me consisting of Beer, V and snacks. I've been involved since the early hours of day 1 and will be at this for as long as it takes.

Just know for all Team Blue customers we're really trying to get everyone back up and running as soon as we can.

If nothing can be done and the attacks are not expensive, then future business on the internet is doomed.

The only thing I can think of is to black list the overseas ISP’s that the connections are coming from. But then some legitimate overseas customers are going to lose access.

Surely the Spy Agencies must have some tricks up their sleeves. Understand they can’t reveal methods. At least we’re not cashless yet so there is ATM machines, just if a bill payment needs amending could be a problem.

Yeah... their only solution may be to use a CDN that has lots of bandwidth, like Cloudflare, AWS, etc. It seems like ANZ already did it:

➜  ~ dig secure.anz.co.nz +short

hmsy3qo.impervadns.net.

45.60.160.117

So it basically means that all the traffic for secure.anz.co.nz (and possible other subdomains) are reaching impervadns.net first, and then from there to the ANZ's servers. So the "pipe" at impervadns.net is way bigger... it can take a bigger DDoS attack than the previous ANZ DDoS solution.
