Andy_Walker: Yes, they had a power supply unit go on top of the Sky Twoer need replacing.

So why does this take out their whole nationwide network?

I was wondering that myself. That is just what they told me over the phone. Come to think of it this is not the first time they have told me about equipment on top of the Sky Tower being replaced as the reason for a service outage. I can't help think it might be a great sounding excuse. Who could help pitty those poor Woosh workers up at the crack of dawn in the rain right up the top of the Sky Tower, risking their lives for us. It certainly is a nice visual picture to tell people over the phone. The customer service people seem to have little communication with the tech people anyway so I would not be surprised if the guys on the phone had no idea why there was an outage.

I'm back using woosh after my entire network blew itself to bits last night, Major disaster, Washing machnine flooded, All the water went straight into the hot water cupboard where most equipment is based.

Terrible speeds, I'm on the most crowded site in auckland, with bad coverage and during the busiest time of day.

Fair enough.. Will be better anywhere else I can bet (apart from CBD)

Sorry to hear about your bad luck...

hmmm what equipments did you have in the hot water closet? And also, I'm curious as to why choose hot water closet over other closet? Why tempt fate when you know worst case scenario, water and electricity don't mix.

That place has the most room and heat from the hot water tank will stave away moisture. Hot water cupboard is under the stairs.

All was good once as everything was on the shelves, when the mystery person borrowed the RCD, he also left the powerboard on the floor too, it got drenched and water seeped into the power adaptors and sent something through thre network. :-(

When you get a flood the water is on the floor. It does not matter if your stuff is in a cupboard or not the water will get if it is low to the floor. It was his washing machine that caused the floor, not a hot water cylinder.

umm yeah i am aware that it is the washing machine that flooded the floor. but it is also kinda risky when the fate of the hot water cylinder burst. so which brought me back to my question of why tempt fate.

anyway, that's real off topic from this thread. And I am sincerely sorry that your equipments fried. And BTW, can't see your blog entry.
