I would definitely try out your streaming on the desktop and see if you get the issues there. I'm thinking you wont.
It could be that with the faster connection to your netbook, it is grabbing a higher quality stream, and the netbook just cannot process it? Though if you had VDSL, it should have been fast enough to get the highest quality stream also.
Could also be that the network card in the netbook is just dropping packets because they are coming in too fast for it?
Can you get to the properties of the network card (in Device manager)? If you go to the Advanced tab, there are settings there for Speed and Duplex - try dropping the speed/duplex settings down one at a time until it becomes stable - won't fix your speedtest results, but might fix the streaming issues until you can get a new laptop.
When you are looking for a new notebook - look for one with Gigabit Ethernet.

Good advice.
Almost all modern notebooks/laptops - except the really cheap and nasty ones - have gigabit ethernet.

Cool,
Have you done a speedtest on the 100mbps full duplex? Does it get any better?
Rather than spend big $$$ on a new laptop consider getting a chromecast device to plug into your TV (about $70).
You will need an HDMI connection on your TV for the chromecast (what you are probably using to connect your laptop anyway)
You can use the chrome browser on your PC to wireless connect to the chromecast and watch (cast) sports, TV on demand etc to your plasma. If you have an android phone you can also use that to stream some things to the chromecast, but you don't have to.
Because Chromecast handles the internet data directly evern if your your desktop cannot stream stuff 100% the chromecast should be fine.
I use a chromecast to stream Sky sports via Fanpass and it works perfectly.
As a bonus if you buy a chromecast from the warehouse their returns policy will give you a full refund if it doesn't work for you. There is bound to be a you tube video on how to set chromecast up.
happyone65: have just checked them all.
100mbps full duplex 61.70/19.89
100mbps half duplex 25.52/20.43
10mbps full duplex 9.52/9.60
10mbps half duplex 5.66/8.39
auto negotiation 31.19/18.61
Nice work, leave it on 100mbps/Full for the weekend and see how your streaming goes.
The 10mbps/Full would be another to try if the streaming keeps stopping, should still be good quality at that speed.
