James Bond:
Have also received my tracking # this morning. Why is it coming from the UK?
Samknows is a UK based company. I would have thought it would be more cost effective to send a bulk lot to the Commerce Commission and get them to send it out, but I guess not.

SamKnows are based in the UK - I can imagine they will be shipping all of them from there.

That's _interesting_... Can you uninstall the Samknows box and see if that log entry stops? If you are on Spark, feel free to PM me your details. I've been involved in the Samknows and Comcom discussions and if there's an issue we'd like to chase this from our end as well...
Cheers - Neil G
The plot thickens... maybe.
Since sending in the problem report those error messages have stopped. Will keep an eye out over the next few days, maybe the router fails after the log messages start...
Today I got a reply from the SamKnows support community. Not really helpful to me. They appeared to think I had configured the local LAN wrong such that the Whitebox could not see my DHCP and DNS, despite the fact that I can see reports of activity from this box on my Samknows portal.
I restated my config, and said I was shutting it down for 3 days to see if my issues recur. Last problem happened earlier today.
Other issue is that our data traffic is at least 50% higher than normal. We are not on an unlimited plan so we will run out of data within the next week or so. We are retired so pay the least we can.

We're on an unlimited plan so not worried but there's a noticeable increase in our usage since connecting the samknows box.

I have been running samknows for 2 weeks now on 100/20 unlimited, I Would not recommend it on a data usage plan. Just on the multi-thread download tests alone, it has been doing 19 samples a day. It has also been downloading UHD from Netflix and Youtube 4 times a day. About 100GB more usage than what I normally do so far this month.
From the white paper.
Est daily volume 4.5GB at 50Mbps ,1.72GB at 20Mbps , 858MB at 10Mbps
See the FAQ #8 that has been recently added to the Comcom run site..

Is 42.1GB the first day with Samknows? If so, that is crazy. Samknows data is going to saturate the NZ internet, and slow real data down.

Given the small number of volunteers there's no issue with aggregate BW usage, however the usage of the tests is significantly higher in some cases than was initially outlined to RSPs and in some cases a significant proportion of a volunteers cap might be used up by the testing.

Yep, router shows the samknows box is using roughly 30GB a day.

yep.
When you consider say, a customer on a 240gb wireless plan on say, a device capable of CA... It's not unreasonable to see 200+mbit
That could easily pop 120GB usage on it's own!
Given they do have a low user mode for wireless capped connections, but what if the end user doesn't opt for it...

SamKnows box arrived today, plugged in 15 mins ago.
ONT -> ERX -> SamKnows -> home network.
My ERX carries traffic over a VLAN to my switch, where it is untagged. Will be interesting to see if the SamKnows box might get upset with that, and if it doesn't see any traffic over the network as all traffic passing through it is tagged.
Home internet plan is Voyager, Unchained UFB, Unlimited Data (Up-to 950/450 Mbps)

My Samknows box just turned up today as well.
Need an opportunity to plug it in as the kids are home and don't want grumpy family if I have to interrupt the interwebs for a bit.

On another note, Sam’s dashboard is really nice!!
Yep, It's a lot better than the old Truenet user portal.
