James Bond:

MetService appears to be down again

I'm pretty sure related to the attack on the CDN / WAF Provider (Red Shield) via Kiwibank.

Kiwibank really need to move to a new WAF provider.

Have any of you noticed a slowdown on connections across to AUS?
It feels like some content coming across from the likes of AWS (APSE2) is slower than usual.
Related to this?

Depending on your ISP - could be.

Vocus I am pretty sure got pretty smashed but don't want to say this is 100% the case as I just don't know. With security events companies do normally stay rather quiet to not draw attention to themselves.

Yeah, I am on Vocus.
It has started pretty much when sites started to go down, but it has only gotten worse in past couple of days.

Vocus is fine and we haven't been smashed with the attacks however we did have an accident when trying to mitigate.

The big green is facing issues again today.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Yup, down again. I don't think they've said anything about what the issue is, but you all reckon it's another DDoS attack?

The news says there's a DDOS ongoing for a few weeks.

Even that article says nothing has been officially confirmed, due to not wanting to say much about the attack if it is indeed another attack. So I guess one could assume..

People who actually know anything about this kind of thing are unlikely to be able to comment publicly.

Hence why I have to be always careful what I say about such things. Attacks are sensitive as you never want the Attackers knowing what you're doing behind the scenes hence why official comms are always very broad or even scarce.

Last thing you want to do is tip off the attackers.

But, seriously feel for the Kiwibank guys... #hugops.

It appears hey are communicating updates via Twitter. Looks like an ongoing issue. Been trying to login for a couple of hours.

I don't understand why KB doesn't make it clear to their customers what the problem is.   Their Facebook feed is quite interesting - lots of very annoyed people but no attempt from KB to explain what the issue is.  If it is another DDOS if they explained it properly at least it might help placate their custmers and stop them leaving.
