Part of the reason our access is so expensive in NZ is similar to the situation in India (where, by chance I happen to own and operate an FTTH ISP).
How are you getting along with bringing hayai.in to NZ?
In the last month I've met with everyone from network builders to politicians, organized phone numbers for VOIP, fiber to neighbourhoods, some (but not all) of the re-broadcast rights for a TV service, renamed my old NZ company, talked to consumers about getting them switched, partially organized a pilot, some financing and probably in a couple of weeks will place an order for a few CPEs, which, unlike in India, I don't need a ridiculously long security clearence to import.
I suspect you'd be trailing in one or more of these neighbourhoods?

I'd prefer to build first in Hamilton (of all places) - born and raised here yada yada, know people, cheap to do compared to Auckland or Wellington... makes it easier.
