Just going through cleaning out some of the old junk I've collected over the years, and among other things I've got 7 Seagate 200gb drives in varying states of failure - mostly bad sectors or they stop responding once they warm up. Also an old old IDE 3.2gb (yes 3.2gb) drive that actually tests 100% OK.
The question is - does anyone know of any data recovery companies etc that would buy failing drives for spare parts (ie: pcb, motor/spindle, heads, etc).
I know there are a few companies overseas that sell the logic boards for data recovery purposes, but does anyone know of anywhere more local that might be interested? They're value is negligable, but if i can get a couple of dollars for a drive I'd prefer that to binning it and getting nothing.
Note: This is a request for my own personal drives, not related to who I work for or customer drives.
Thanks.
