Anyone want to recommend the headset/microphone they're using for Skype or similar ?

I've got a NZD20 one from Dick Smiths.

It's functional but you can hear a lot more of my breathing than I'd like (in silences sounds like I have asthma).

Also I have quite a loud, deep voice and that seems to result in a fizzing sort of noise around the edges of the sound.

Would be interested to hear of experiences with these and others.

By the way I'm not at all concerned about what music sounds through these - I'm completely focussed on speech sending and receiving.

I would have thought there would have been quite a lot of response to this question - but apparently not?

I use the Jabra GN9350 (http://www.amazon.com/GN-Netcom-GN9350-Wireless-Headset/dp/B000FL9QL8) and I'm very happy with it.

I have a set of Logitech wireless (link). They work very well and I use Skype frequently.

Ditto that recommendation. I have an earlier model of this (OMG I can't believe how much the prices have dropped!!!) and it's the best performing headset I've ever used (and believe me I have tried a few - spent 8yrs of my working career with a headset glued to my skull)

I don't skype anymore, but when I did my logitech wireless gave me better clarity than a regular cordless telephone - even on skype calls to obscure bordering-on-3rd-world countries - plus I could yak for 8-ish hours whilst wandering about the house doing the usual daily things handsfree.

Only downside for me at the time was the proprietary connections on the charging cable - not sure if the latest models share that issue tho. I much prefer standard universal connectivity.

Strongly encourage you to check it out - you could buy three duds at the price of this one good unit and still end up here at the end of the day. That's how I calculate the math anyway.

I am looking for something similar, for light gaming - Guild Wars 2 and Ventrilo. Don't want to spend a lot so wondered if anyone had any recommendations around the $50 mark, maybe a cheap Logitech or even a low end Turtle Beach?

Seen this for around $40: Logitech H340 USB Headset

By the way Noel Leeming have 30% off all Turtle Beach headsets, made for gaming but they are good for Skype etc.
