Was told that possibly an active display port to DVI adapter would get me working tripple head off my onboard HD4000 graphics. So far its doing the exact same thing that my passive adapter did - detect the monitor but refuse to let me enable it without disabling one of the others.

Anyway, is there any way to tell in device manager or similar if it is an active adapter or if I was just ripped off on ebay?

i managed to get three independant screens running off my laptop once - two external plus the laptop screen. i've never been able to do it again though, and no idea how i got it to work in the first place. I have display port, vga and internal scree but can only usually get any two working..

I might try it with VGA, DVI and something else, was hoping to get all 3 on a digital output since VGA is a little lame. Ideally I want to know if I have been sent a $3 adapter for $15 or if it really is active. Nothing seems different in device manager but I dont know if it should.
