Connector won by a knockout!

I installed Connector to access my Hotmail and GZMail through Outlook 2003 (from the Professional Suite), which worked fine.  What I didn't realise is that it had killed other features of Outlook including POP retrieval.  When I clicked on the Accounts, I got the following error...

Ok, uninstall Connector... fault remains.  Repair and reboot... fault remains.  Reinstall... fault remains.  Completely uninstall and reinstall, then fart about with profiles and data files for an hour (including mild panic when I thought I deleted wife's emails)... success!

I think this can safely be classified under "wtf?".

OUCH!!! When add-ons go bad, huh?

Did you do a repair with the Connector installer, Microsoft Office Professional, or both?

 - Uninstall Connector
 - Detect & Repair
 - Office Pro Repair
 - Office Pro Reinstall
 - Install Outlook as individual app
 - Detect & Repair (which redid the Office Pro bit, completely reinstalling Outlook) on each user account
 - Profiles and data files

If this happens again, I'll go straight to removing Outlook then reinstalling.  (As you can tell, I was feeling my way through this, trying all options)

Is this the Outlook Connector linked from our pages to Mirosoft? There are two - an old one who required a subscription and the new one, released just now...

It was the Office Outlook Connector linked to from GZ (published 14/08/07).  From the Vista blog (as at Aug 20), it looks like you've had some issues too MF?

I had, but it was a conflict with another add-in - which was duly removed and all is well now.

I found out the add-in causing the problem by looking in the Event Viewer | Application Log. It was listed there, and that add-in caused problems before. I removed it and all is fine with the Connector.
