Hi. I am wanting to upgrade the ram on my levono thinkcentre as its slooooow as. RAM seems to be constantly 80%+ so I assume by upgrading it, i should see some benefits?

The computer is only used for web surfing and microsoft office. Specs are pretty poor. E5700 CPU, 2gb ram, and 250gb harddrive.

I tried searching for info and had trouble finding if 4 or 8gb was the max. Also there are so many types, speeds, low voltage, buffed, etc etc and i really dont know what to get!

Using CPU-Z it gives this info for RAM: DDR3 PC3-8500F(533mhz) Samsung 1.5V

Ideally i want to upgrade to 8gb if its not overly expensive and if it is worth while doing.

What does CPU-Z say the motherboard is? Can see what is compatible then.

It looks like that chipset supports 8GB DDR2 800MHz and 4GB DDR3 1066MHz.

8GB of DDR3 might be sweet with 2 4GB sticks, but the desktop memory I could find wasn't particularly cheap.

Do you know the exact model laptop? Some of the bigger ram manufacturers have online memory compatibility tools. Eg Crucial

Several sources say (4x2=) 8GB DDR3 will work with G41, but must be low density. Example:

Imo DDR3 will be cheaper than DDR2 anyway at this stage.

And 8GB will show a big difference in performance? or would 4gb be more than enough?

EDIT: And would this RAM be suitable? just unsure with all the hidden info as i said earlier like being buffered and registered etc etc:

Has it got an ssd in it ?? , if not throw one in you will notice a significant increase in performance.

i would say you would get a better performance increase with a ssd over the extra couple of gb of ram.

I threw 2gb more ram into my old core2 asus laptop, made a small difference, but putting a SSD in it made way more difference.
