My trusty Logitech M505 has been a bit flakey of late - not bad for 9 years of service.

Im looking a replacement.

Anybody got any recommendations for a good comfortable mouse? Main use is for development, writing documents etc

TIA

I'm using the M705. The batteries last over a year of heavy use!

Unified USB receiver also manages the K260 keyboard.

Happy with both.

If you are not looking for a gaming mouse, the Logitech MX Master seems to be everyone's favourite that I hear. It is quite a large mouse though, so you might want to try it out first to see if it fits your hand/grip, but if it does apparently it is very comfortable to use.

I personally would get one for work myself but at over $100 it is a little pricey for me.

Thanks @kryptonjohn the M705 seems like the natural choice. Just looked around and a colleague has one. It seems comfortable enough.

The M705 is quite horrible in terms of accuracy - if you do any gaming, design work or anything it isn't the mouse for you.

I bought a MX Master for home - loved it, bought another one for work. Very nice to use and the freescrolling on it is awesome. Looks like a big mouse (and it is) but it is darn comfortable.

Hmmm, can't say I have had any accuracy issues, but I don't use it for gaming. Do a lot of software design with it, including positioning controls on forms etc. The only problems that gives me is when I have bad network connections to remote desktops making it laggy.

I used to use one then bought a later model one with "improved battery life" however this model was terrible to use. However, I do use my mice with the sensitivity turned way up. Gaming with them was horrible. For the little price difference at the moment you can't beat the MX Master.

+1 for MX Master.  Best mouse I've ever used.  I don't notice the size, but love the added functionality of the buttons, which are generally well-placed, and the ability to pair it with 3 devices and switch between them using the button underneath the mouse.  It means I can use one mouse for both my work desktop and my personal Surface which I bring to work with me with no fuss.

Using my MX Master to submit this very post...

Excellent mouse, probably overpriced, no regrets.

Using an M705 at work, and it's not bad, but at home I've got a G900 Chaos Spectrum, and I can honestly say it's the best mouse I've ever used.

+1 for the G900 Chaos Spectrum. The best mouse I have ever used, bar none. Regular price is quite expensive but I got it for $90 when Harvey Normans had their New Year Sale on. The Salesperson couldn't believe the price when I took it up as he had just bought one a few weeks beforehand. Checked the price ticket, scanned it twice and confirmed with his boss before he "let me" buy it laughing

I'm using a Steel Series Rival 300 now, I find it lots more comfortable than my previous Razer Taipan.  I was worried about the optical sensor not laser but it hasn't been an issue yet.

I do game with it (the mouse is the least of my problems there), but I also use it all day for work.

I'd take G900 over MX Master if only one mouse for gaming/productivity - responsiveness is phenomenal and smaller/lighter.

For productivity MX Master because of the side scroll and speed adaptive scroll.
