Just occurred to me there might be someone here who has a clue as to why I can't get into the IRD site in Firefox? I'm an accountant so go in regularly - but started having problems a couple of months ago - waited till 31 March was over. I can get in via Chrome - added it to my taskbar.
Even when Chrome was faster I saw no reason to change, and don't want to change now. My Chrome has very little customisation - I use it on the odd occasion to check when I have problems in FF (seldom except with IRD).
I've tried FF safe mode, normal mode with add-ins disabled, pop-ups disabled (wouldn't expect IRD to use them), etc. Nothing works.
So if anyone has any ideas ... IRD say to get my IT section on it - this is as close as it comes to "an IT section" at our home office.

This is the error when trying to get the login screen:

Bad Request

The request could not be understood by server due to malformed syntax.

cookies and site data are you clearing stored site data?

Well that is weird. There was no site data for IRD. Deleted all IRD cookies, etc again and got past the very first screen - but still couldn't get to the login screen. Did have a button to go back to the main site, which then lets me log in, which is an improvement.
Eventually it let me log in with no problems. Copied the url to my igHome setup, and now it works like it should.
The sad thing is I can't remember everything I did and what worked an didn't, so when my office manager (aka wife) recovers from ill health we will have to do the same on her machine. (That's the weird thing - we've both had the same problem.)
Anyway, it's working now - first time for a couple of months. Thanks for the suggestions.

One of my staff was trying to look up his IRD number - couldnt log in to the My IRD in firefox.

He rang them up and they said "no not compatible with firefox, please use edge"

And that was it.

From my understanding, I thought firefox was the most standards compliant of the browsers?

Please use ' Edge ' WTF I would of responded 2degrees has turned off the 2G network and my only options are 3G and 4G now

I'm disappointed but not surprised that IRD doesn't follow standards. We have enough difficulties trying to send "email" through their secure email system. It is slightly faster than pigeon post - but having had it fall over too many times (and it doesn't allow attachments, etc), I tend to write my messages then cut and paste and send in their mail system. Even that caught me out the first time. Had to resort to notepad to avoid non-ASCII characters.

However, both of us have got it going - cleared all site data to do so. Fortunately with modern password managers and the like, recovery is painless. Now I just have to convince MYOB to let their software work with password managers (although it might be easier to convince password managers to work with non-internet passwords as well).

That's is fine if a business is running windows 10. but many are still using 7 or 8, which don't have edge. But I can't recall any problem in firefox, or chrome, which I would expect all websites to run under. But IRDs online systems aren't the best, especially their GST filing which actually went backwards, as it used to be far easier to use than it is today. I almost prefer doing it on the old paper forms.

I don't know why they bother with that, because it is so slow to get a reply.

Don't know if you're aware but those who deal with them professionally left them in no doubt how bad it was. I hope the latest changes, and those coming next year, will be better. They certainly seem to have listened.
But that's the compromise of a generic system. The old one was beyond creaking at the seams - and a custom one, while nice would have been really expensive. It's still been hard to believe that other jurisdictions (I believe Ireland is one) live with some of the things that we've had changed.
Still lots of room for improvement - but there has been a lot (they had to - it was really bad) and they're continuing to improve. Trouble is they have to consider other jurisdictions, so can be a bit slow. make me appreciate the old system - as bad as it was.

It is slow getting a reply - even worse when the reply doesn't answer the question asked. But I HATE their phone system even more than most. I had a stroke over a decade ago and pushing buttons galore - or trying to keep my brain together while using voice commands is difficult.
Fortunately I have an answer. If it's urgent I get my office manager (aka wife / kidney donor) to call them.

I am using Firefox v59, on Win10. I can view the public website fine, can log into my account without issue. I don't use the RealMe options.

Firefox is not my browser, I just tried it now because of this topic, so the browser is freshly installed with no extensions.

I always use Firefox with IRD and Realme and have no problems logging in and doing things like GST returns. Have the use of 3 PCs all Win 10 Pro with Firefox, all work OK.

Firefox is not a fresh install, been here since forever, with a few addons.

So, I haven't a clue why they would say it is incompatible. Anyway, in this day and age????
