Help, I am in desperate for help.
My laptop's DVD-RAM player is on Region 1 but most of my DVDs are region 4. And I just realise that there is a limit on the number of time I can change the region but I already used it all up.

So what can I do????
I live in Australia which is consider as region 4, watching rented DVDs is my life. I can't live through Uni life without it.
Someone please help.
Is there anyway I can work around that?? Please..............

I take it you are using Windows Media Player to watch your dvds?

I suggest you try VLC (Video Lan Client), as that should play all of your dvds without checking what region your drive has been locked too.

dvd genie.. i recall from years ago... but i think players like vlc and mplayer remove the need for it so...
you will likely need to flash your firmware... google make/model and 'region free'

i cannot remember the last time i came across a region lock...

As FredDag says VLC will play without doing a software check, but if your drive is locked to a region you will need to update its firmware. This is most likely true to all new drives and not every drive around has an "open" firmware available.

Good luck trying to find it.

There are programs such as DVD43 and AnyDVD available which will allow it to play any region.
