Hey , I need help choosing what upgrade I should go for
I have here a AMD X4 upgrade and a Sandybridge one

AMD

Motherboard Asus M4A87TD/USB3 - 123 NZD -
CPU AMD Phenom II-X4 955 Black Edition 159 NZD -
Ripjaw 4GB DDR3 RAM - 56 NZD

Total = 338 NZD

Intel

Intel sandy bridge Core i5 2310 2.9GHz 270NZD
ASUS P8H61 DDR3 Motherboard 114.60 NZD
RIPJAW 4GB DDR3 - 56NZD

Total = 470.6 NZD

Which build would you recommend ??

What are you going to be using it for?
The SNB build will be faster than the AMD one.

amd !!
i have a 955 black edition, and its sitting on 3.8ghz STABLE on stock cooler.
sandy bridge is faster, but more expensive.
depends on your preferences. you could spend another $110 or so and get the AMD 6 Core 1090t which can reach 4ghz on stock cooler. amd is bang for buck whereas intel is always making new technology to be faster and phases out older models quickly. if you go amd, get an am3 plus board so you can run bulldozer chips when they appear.
all reviews and posts are slightly bias :P its more of a personal preference.

for me, intel service is bad and amd service surpasses it (ie: sent out new processor no hassels)

and whats graphics card do you have man? that kind of helps since ur into gaming... ati cards are better with amd chipsets IMO and intel goes well with nvidia , again IMO

If you're gaming, what video card are you going to get?

As above, the sandybridge build will be faster. Why only 4GB of RAM? Why not get 2*4GB sticks?

oops I meant 2x2GB DDR3 Ram , and i already have a gtx 460 graphics card

but if it was me, i would have bought amd, for future upgradeability
