Anyone familar with these technologies? I just stumbled across them myself and after watching this video my jaw is on the floor!! The performance increase over even the fastest SSD drive is utterly ridiculous.

I am currently building a fairly extreme x79 build for a client: 3730k, 32gb DDR3, 512gb SSD, GTX580. He does video editing, photoshop etc.

Unfortunately ive already bought all the components, just waiting on Synex to deliver the processor. I got in a Gigabyte x79-UD5, apparently only the asus & asrock boards support Ram Cache/Drive which puts me in a rather hard place..

Is anyone here doing anything similar?, after some real world impressions..

I cant get this video to display using the new mehtod to insert youtube videos..

I have installed PerfectCache here, from the same makes of PerfectDisk, using 4GB cache. While benchmarks showed huge numbers, in real life I didn't notice any real change. Worst still, it corrupted files in my HDD.

I have just replaced my HDD with a SSD, which is a huge, noticeable performance increase, at a safer level.

Here is the results for my Crucial C300 SSD without and with PerfectCache (installed a new version to see if problems were fixed):

I used RAMDisk Software from Dataram for a while, was good for some temp folders.

Thats a huge increase in performance (number wise) but your not noticing any real world gains?

Seriously, with SSD it's already fast... Note that this is a RAM cache but not built into the hardware platform - it's using third party software.

Having said that, using the cache does make things a bit faster in some situations. Of course you need to populate it first, so if you load lots of data into the cache but only use these bits once then the cache is not of much gain... The cache hit ration have to be something worth it...

Write cache = dangerous without a battery backup (for RAID cards anyway).

This software ^ isn't bad for things like Photoshop scratch disk etc.
