ubergeeknz: Oh and even if it gets repaired, you will need a beast of a step down to run a laser printer.  Probably the step down alone would cost you more than the replacement printer.

Exactly what I was going to say.

another casualty - don't worry I've seen people plugging Dyson's, rice cookers and air compressors with a different voltage.

A client of mine once had a computer shipped from the US and plugged it in before switching the supply to 240v... The computer was complete toast! Powersupply, MB, the lot.
