Kyanar: I tried so hard, but for some reason I can't seem to find the footnotes referenced in the Office 365 part of the page? There's a 1, 2, 3, 4, and double-asterisk but they don't actually seem to be included?
freitasm: Yes, the "Office 365" throws me into "cloud mode" because of the branding. Too confusing having two different product lines with same name.
Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
billgates:martyyn: Apologies for the daft question but does this mean the office365 home premium replaces the old office family pack with three licences. But now you have five and it's a yearly subscription rather than outright purchase?
Office 365 premium is 100% subscription based model and pricing. Office 2013 is simply now licensed for 1PC only.
martyyn:
But I can now subscribe to office365 for five pc's rather than buy office2010 for three?
billgates:
Office 2010 was not subscription based. Pay for it for life and 3 user license. Office 365 premium IMO is good value. Pay yearly fees, but you can install it on more machines incl Mac's and later mobile devices using the same subscription. Because it's subscription based, all major updates will be free moving forward like Office 2015/2016 whenever it will be released.
Thanks, I understand the difference between subsription based and 'one off'. I just wanted to confirm Office365 premium is valid for 5 pc's rather than three and does the 5 include mobile devices, so three pc's and 2 phones ?
In the longer term, Im still not convinced its a better deal than buying Office2010 with three licences and using it for five years for example. I know plenty of people still more than happy with Office2003. But its got me thinking and I may well buy something which I havent bought previously instead of using Open Office :)
If I can buy three licences now of 2010 for $150 and have them upgraded to 2013 if activated before April (is my understanding) and use them for five years, thats a huge saving over $150 a year for five years. Online storage is neither here not there for me, as is the Skype minutes, and Im not convinced (for my situation anyway) having access to documents on mobile devices is worth it either.
Horses for courses and all that :)

Yes, license is valid for 5 devices in total for Office 365 home premium. Whether it's 1PC and 4 mobile devices or 4 PC's and 1 Mac. 5 in total. Right now the mobile apps for iOS and Android do not exist and neither is there any confirmation that they will.

Same here.. 365 has been heavily branded as the 'cloud' service up until now.
Microsoft Corp. has announced worldwide availability of Office 365 Home Premium, a reinvention of the company’s flagship Office product line for consumers.Office 365 Home Premium is a cloud service designed for busy households and people juggling ever-increasing work and family responsibilities. The new offering includes the latest and most complete set of Office applications; works across up to five devices, including Windows tablets, PCs and Macs; and comes with extra SkyDrive storage and Skype calling.
“Today’s launch of Office 365 Home Premium marks the next big step in Microsoft’s transformation to a devices and services business,” said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. “This is so much more than just another release of Office. This is Office reinvented as a consumer cloud service with all the full-featured Office applications people know and love, together with impressive new cloud and social benefits.”

gehenna:
And is the 20GB for SkyDrive? If you've already got 25GB will that be another 20GB on top of that?
