What really annoys me is companies that will not email the bill or statement as an attachment and just send you a link to it, or even worse, just an email to say that it is ready to get. Those are the ones that I will usually opt for a paper bill unless it costs me more.

Because normally it takes an extra authentication step to log in and get the statement.

You do this for safety reasons - when you send the PDF out directly you've got to worry about bounce backs, and wrogn email adddresses.  It's much safer to send a link.

So while annoying I understand completely why they do it.

I've just been toodling with a front end for evernote, which takes the metadata I used to keep in my system (I used to keep warranty receipts etc and so for those I'd store the shop, what it was for, how long the warranty is and the serial number). and put it into an evernote note with the pdf.

I must be old fashioned: I store bills and receipts in a filing cabinet.

Which almost works the best...unless storage space is at a premium.  ANd it doesn't cover any electronic only receipts.  or do you print these?
