A desktop just to cut and clip kiddy photos?

You need something that has minimum a mouse and a keyboard. Touch screen would be a luxury but could be either helpful or a hindrance.

There are all in one systems with mouse keyboard and touch screen aren't cheap.

Laptops are not messy but have smaller screens than desktops.

b.t.w, most touch screens can be used with a mouse and keyboard. marvellous technology that wireless stuff :)

Also, windows gallery (from Windows Essentials) works really well with photos and is a free download.

You don't need to buy any software, so long as the have internet access, you can try pixlr.com - almost as good as photoshop and it's free. Check it out!
