nathan: if you have a video card that supports the mDP1.2 MST for daisychaining but don't have the monitors that support it you can also buy a MST hub and use that between the monitors and PC.
And that's the new thing I have learned today. :)

That's my experience as well, though I think they are getting better (like early WinModems - they were horrible when first released). I don't buy or encourage them, but have them handed to me to troubleshoot not infrequently. Trickier operations like 'what to do if the user closes their laptop lid but power settings tell me to not go to sleep' are not always handled the way use user would like.
