Unlike the previous two posts, I've had no problems with HP inkjet photo/multifunction printers - maybe it's the cheapest ones? Plus problems like "conflicting IP" addresses more commonly arise from how a network is configured rather than any one device.

I would recommend looking on Trade Me as I get older industrial quality printers at little cost and there's always cheaper consumables being sold whenever people upgrade their printers.

Anyway, I am interested in what you decide to get so let us know when you get your deal.

the ip address issue is common fault/issue with the hp printers. I bought hundreds of posts & queries about it when searching google. there are supposed 'solutions' but non completely fixed the issue. the one I can was the HP Photosmart C310A, not the budget entry level.

In saying that, my Canon Pixma is networked & works without any fault whatsoever, its even networked on the same IP address the HP printer was on!
So networking issue in my system - think not :)

pinkbellbird: I know your wanting recommendations, but I have to tell you to STAY AWAY from the HP Photosmart series!

In general, Ive often found the HP multifunction/printer software to be rather crappy, compared to Brother & Canon
Pitty, as I quite like the HP hardware itself .
I dread getting called out to look at HP Printer install issues .

Im not sure why bundled printer scan software is often so user unfriendly. And poorly designed .
I can figure it , but home users often just get confused when showing them how to use it.
Is '1 click to scan' a function thats really so hard to write ?
