How did you get on, Ray?

I ended up ordering one of the above from AliExpress to try out as an HTPC (non-wireless model, without RAM). For RAM I ordered a 4Gb Kinston SODIMM KVR13S9S8/4. It's been running for 3 weeks 24/7 with zero issues (re-encoding PVR files for 2-3 hours a day) and the chassis gets just warm enough to feel nice on the hands when coming in from the cold. I've just emailed the vendor today as I can't find a suitable USB3 driver.

It's the same processor as before, it's just a minor update with some more USB ports, reduced power usage a couple of other things: http://www.raspberrypi.org/product/model-b-plus/

Edit: I forgot to add that mine's still running fine as well, current uptime is 28 days (guess when I redid my rack).

Thanks for that tip, meesham. I wouldn't deploy these machines to clients, but for my own use it is just brilliant. I have had to reboot it once from memory, due to issues with kmttg and java.

I ordered one of trademe and installed windows 7
Swapped out the hard drive for an SSD
