The only time using what I suggested will help is if the enclosure is faulty. It's worth a shot if you don't have a PC and your data is important to you, but I wouldn't hold me breath.

The TV may be running a Linux based operating system that is able to see the files for some reason.  You could try booting the PC from a Linux Live CD and see if that can see the files and copy them to another drive.

How dead can it be if the TV could still see it? Have you tried Dynamic's suggestion?

Tried it with Linux, I could see the folders but not open them. The file names were missing too. My TV can't transfer files from one device to another so can't do that.
