Flickky: Here's the NZ iTunes link for that album

Nope, that's another album as far as I can tell.

There are two - "At the drop of a hat", and "At the drop other ANOTHER hat".  The first is available in the NZ iTunes store, the second (sadly) isn't.  (It's a really old album and there are probably some really obscure rights issues there!)

ADKM: To answer the regional question, yes, iTunes is highly regional.  If you sign up to the NZ iTunes store, you won't see the album, and if you change to the UK store, it probably won't let you buy it (as your account is probably going to be tagged "New Zealand").  I tried the UK link with my NZ-based Apple iTunes account, and that's what I experienced.  Annoying, but sadly, that's the way it is sometimes with Apple.

There is some good news, in that I can see the album on Google Play Music for NZ$15.99; I've bought some albums from Google Play Music, and never had the same problems with regions and downloading etc myself.

So, it looks like in this case the Google ecosystem will probably be better for your requirement than the Apple one.

Ah right... plot becomes even more intruiging!   I did realise it was the wrong album (thanks for saving me looking for the other) and right now am
installed and connected looking at the wanted  album (on nonNZ iTunes site I guess) and pondering the "open itunes to preview, buy etc" ).

Hmmm I guess it's the end of the line iTune wise. Apparently it's iTunes Uk this is on otherwise my US friend was going to get it for me.

I have access to a gMail a/c but it's not in my name.  And no idea how to tie it all together with 'Google Play'. Is it possible - (the cc is in my name!).

The Gmail account doesn't (as far as I know) need to be in your name; as long as you are a) allowed to use the account, and b) happy tying your credit-card details to the account, then that should be OK.

PLEASE NOTE THAT LINKING CREDIT CARDS DETAILS TO THE ACCOUNT MEANS ANYONE ELSE WITH ACCESS TO THE ACCOUNT WILL HAVE ACCESS TO YOUR CREDIT CARD!!!

If you sign into GMail on your web-browser, then on the top-right of the window should be account name, a little bell, and 9 little squares in a cube-shape (i.e. the google apps menu).  Clicking on that will drop down a list of icons, one of which is "play".  Clicking that will then take you into the play store, still logged into the same "Google Account" (i.e. gmail account).  From there you can search for the music, etc.  I *think* that if you purchase the album it'll ask for credit card details if there aren't any loaded at that point.  Otherwise, it should pop up a list of linked cards, and let you select, change, etc.

Remember, you need to use the Google Music Manager to download any purchased Music to your local hard drive.

Good Luck!

Why not buy music from Amazon instead?

I haven't used iTunes in years now

Thanks for the instructions ... will give it a go... fingers crossed!
Maurice, Amazon AFAIK won't sell mp3's to anyone in NZ.

Just use an account with a US address to buy it them. Get their full selection.

Better than installing iTunes on any system...

I don't recommend entering your credit card details into iTunes at all.  You are far safer to buy an iTunes gift card.  That way if someone else gains access to your iTunes account they can only use the available credit loaded from the gift card, not your credit card.

Interesting Maurice... how do you do that?  I've always found you're known at login and where you are.
If you're in the wrong "geographical area" your unable to download.   I'm sure this is right as I went into it with "Cust Support"
and was told they're working on it... but not possible yet.  Licensing issues.

I won't establish an iTunes a/c but might have to with Mr Google.  Always a risk, but so far no problems, the Bank does
give you some guarantee (or is that wishful thinking?) against fraudulent use?   In a genuine case there must be some redress?

James, can you confirm you are seeing the 'Another Hat' in the list at Google Play ?  I see just the other one there and a total of 4 results from Music.
Thanks.

Can confirm "At the drop of another hat" is available for $NZ15.99 from Google Music

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I can see the album, and it's on this link: https://play.google.com/store/music/album/Flanders_and_Swann_At_the_Drop_of_Another_Hat?id=Bsv6ilhp4kzpbg2aj4wtvdebaoi

(Sorry for the delay in responding; but I can also confirm that Big Hero 6 is a totally awesome film!)

Ok I wonder what I'm doing wrong?   But first there is one called "At the drop of another hat' but it isn't the Flanders & Swann album but something by
Jody Karin Applebaum and is in category "Songs".
1) I click the Apps button in gMail
2) Click Play
3) Click on Music
4) Search for 'At the drop of another hat'

I get 3 subheadings with one item each.  And nothing costing $15.99

James, sorry to bug you again...  I get options to write a reviews, or add to a wishlist.  There's no Buy button showing, nor the price, that you must be seeing.
I tried /Shop' but that didn't help. Last attempt then I'll give it up as a lost cause!!!

Thanks

Hmmm... I get what is probably a similar screen if I open the link I gave you in a "private window" (I use Firefox) - this is basically a new window that isn't signed into my Google account.  There is also a large blue "sign in" button in the top right screen.  If you're seeing "sign in", then I guess you aren't signed into the Google account correctly.  Or something else weird is going on!  (Which probably doesn't help much....)
