650W PSU seems a bit overkill.. although that's pretty cheap anyway. That motherboard looks expensive too IMO... maybe I'm just a cheap ass but would spend no more than $200 MAX on a motherboard if you essentially just want a flash workstation PC (my little home server MoBo was only around $150 and thats with M.2 slots, RAID, etc).

Go for a bigger name SSD, Samsung or Intel IMO, WD Black are pretty good too. Also make sure if going the M.2 route, you get an NVMe SSD and not SATA - otherwise whats the point really.

Edit: Punctuation and grammar are sometimes important to make the correct statement haha.

it's just what the custom system builder suggested for that CPU/MoBo combo, I think.

it was listed as a 'gaming' build and by default had a $500 GPU, too, so maybe that e plains the mobo/psu choices.

1101:

Get a well proven Brand of SSD : Samsung or Intel .

Also avoid Adata RAM. Ive had so many issues in the past with AData ram Ive sold/installed
Ive even had the warranty replacement RAM fail , not a good look .
Adata RAM may be better now , but I wouldnt touch it , and any used Adata RAM we have after upgrades I throw in the bin.

cheers

for some reason A-data and Corsair are all they stock for DDR4. I guess I'll pick something up from PB Tech separately, on the strength of that issue.

Be very careful with selecting the CPU as there are huge differences in performance between CPUs with similar names and similar prices. You should look up how fast a specific model is. Don't discount AMD either.
