Bluescreens in the .sys file for the card is what I found when using a silicon image based card. The other issue is that cheap cards generally leave off capacitors that the manufacturer says to put on, which makes them less stable. Some of the $16 cards I got even have are identical boards to the $30 ones, but have lots missing off them, they leave off the jumpers and external sockets, and a crapload of capacitors.

Now you have me intrigued, and tbh a bit concerned.

 

So.......how do I tell? I'll shut down the server a bit later on and have a look but this smells dodgy.

 

especially as it's been intermittent crashes, and seems to be related to 'iso downloads and automation' which causes a lot of disk activity.

 

Thats what made me think power supply as I've recently added in a couple of new disks which have upped the power load.

Yep using it for jbod in my freenas box at the moment. It's less than a month old and cost me around $500 but happy to help out , what's your budget?
