I got mine from Aliexpress

Came in about 7 days, even with the world in meltdown.

Regular HDMI out and an elgato camlink is a solution that a couple of people I know are now using because the one on their laptop was so bad.

If you have an old laptop with a webcam that is otherwise scrap, the camera module is just a USB device so with a little bit of soldering you can get a webcam out of it. A terrible quality small sensored 720p one most likly, but still a camera.

Thanks for that - looks like I didn't need to buy the Sparkocam licence after all, although I suppose I can use it on my Windows 7 machine as this is Windows 10 only.

Works very well with Zoom/Google Meet etc with my 200D/SL2 and a 24mm pancake lens, and has face-tracking autofocus etc. I have an external USB-converter camera battery replacement so there's no problem with power, and I was already using an external mic so that isn't an issue either. Much better quality than my Logitech c920, so looks like the 200D is on webcam duties for the duration.

Alas my 200D is apparently way to old for sparkocam - it's OK as I don't need another webcam.

OfficeMax 'claim' to be able to supply the Logitech C930E Webcam as 'Available Mid-End April' and currently showing 'Delivery 3-5 working Days'... 'shipped from supplier'.

I ordered one last weekend  when delivery time was 1-2 weeks and am yet to see it but if it turns up before the end of April I'll be fairly happy. I can see I am going to have a house full of people working from home, schooling from home and University'ing from home for a while!

Good Luck! :-)

Yeah, I ordered a Logitech 325 on 17 March, when their website said that they had them.  For my zooming wife. Unseen as yet, they say 20 May for new stock.  Hate it that they take my money like that, without actually having stock.

I also, then, ordered a C270 from AliExpress on 6 April, and according to their tracking it has been in NZ for a few days now, and I'm hoping to see it soon. Replacement for my ?20 year old USRobotics, which is actually still doing a great job, even under Win10.

It's a race to the finish, then.

AliExpress webcam arrived a couple of weeks ago, and it is great.  As for OfficeMax, nothing, and they are not answering emails, gone completely dark on me. I'll not be buying anything from them again, ever.

Can you provide a link to which one you ordered?  Seven day delivery is pretty good.

Hey there - looking for an acceptable quality but affordably priced webcam for work - are there any that meet this brief that have a tripod mount on them? Or are there other easy ways to get a little bit of height (15-20cm)?

We’d be happy with something of a similar quality to the Logitech (think a C525) we have in our own office, but ideally with a mounting method.

Also, it seems supplies are still pretty low at many retailers - any recommendations for places with decent stock levels?

Many thanks.

Assuming your budget is sub $150 Amazon really is your best option. There is still stock around at places like PB Tech but not low to mid range.

Yep, that’s about my budget! Have to get all components (cables, speakers, adapter etc) for under $300.
I see Computer Lounge has both the Logi C615 and 525 in stock ($128 and $119 respectively), and while the prices may not be amazing delivery’s usually pretty fast from them.

I’m thinking I may need to give on the idea of a tripod mount as few appear to have this, and in the end acceptable quality image and microphone is more important.

Would there be any specific recommendations for models at under $150, and ideally available in NZ (I think work would be keener for me to buy local, and get prompt delivery)?

Edit - read a review of the Logi C615, and it says the base has plugs that can be removed to reveal a tripod stand, so it looks like this’ll do the job nicely...
