Would running the one card I have in crossfire with the on board card increase performance just as a temp thing until I get another card and motherboard?
should run couple of synthetic tests with crossfire hybrid on and off and some in game with Fraps free program to see in game realtime Frames Per Second FPS. good luck. also what Operating System are you using.
Which discribes the situation well. It would appear that Crossfire with this MB is quite dependant on the discrete card chipset (i.e. works with some, not with others). Hopefully a bios update in the future will fix all thi
Ok I had a Look at that very helpfull thanks. But now I just need to be pointed in the right direction I want a motherboard that will support crossfire I found a few but have no idea what one would b best so any advice will b a big help I'm looking around the $200-$300 mark for the mother board coz I still need to get the 2nd video card.
hi again, if you dont want to spend a lot of money i think the board i pointed out before would be a good option (as it can run crossfire at 8x 8x bandwidth)
If you want to spend more money, then the 890FX chipset is the way to go. It will let you run crossfire with both cards at full 16x bandwidth. The most reasonbly priced 890FX board i believe is the M4A89TD PRO/USB3 which retails for around $320. The GA-890FXA-UD5 would also be a good option at about $330 ish.
EDIT: oh i forgot, i helped my friend build his amd X6 based system last weekend using the M4A89TD PRO/USB3. So far so good - running at 3.9ghz at the moment and he has no idea what hes doing as far as overclocking.
