Maybe the issue you are having is not with FF4 then

I would agree but 1) the other browsers I have (IE9 and Chrome) work fine and 2) there are others on the interweb with the same issues. So I can't see what else could be at fault.

Chrome uses a completely different version of flash player, what happens when you use a 3.x version of firefox?

Was running 3. something until a few days ago, worked perfectly. Haven't bothered re-installing a 3.X version

Running FF4 on 4 pc's have not seem similar problems.

Try uninstalling FF4, then delete the http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory then new clean install

Nope, I have no problems either. Except that my machine is a short of memory and firefox usage gradually builds up to 400MB after a week or so without restarting. If I do restart it doesn't remember the open tabs anymore. Guess I shouldn't have so many tabs open.

Time to find a new industry!

Im using FF4 (at home) and the most annoying thing has been that the "open link in new tab"
and "open link in new window" has been swapped around in the menu when you right click. annoying

The remembering open tabs thing is broken in FF4.

If you launch it from a shortcut you get a link at the bottom to restore your session.

If it is launched by something wanting to show you a page like clicking a messenger link, you just get that page and nothing to restore the pages from your last session. FF 3 would show both the tree view of the old session that crashed and the new page that you requested.

And I hate that thing that keeps appearing over content when mousing over a link. Gimme back the damn status bar. At least it has a proper title bar when you show the menu bar, unlike that POS chrome.

Wasn't it like that in 3.6? (I used 4 beta for ages and can't remember) It took me about a day to get used to it and now when I use other browsers, I stuff up!
I'm glad "new tab" is at the top though!

I have had no dramas with FF4 remembering tabs on any PC (running vista, xp, ubuntu and 7 on 4 seperate machines)
Weird, because the xp box is always on and the other 3 get turned off at least twice a day.

On Windows...

Open link in new background tab:
- [Ctrl]+[Left Click]
- [Middle Mouse Click]

Open link in new foreground tab:
- [Ctrl]+[Shift]+[Left Click]
- [Shift]+[Middle Mouse Click]

Open link in new window:
- [Shif]t+[Left Click]

Easy!

Remembering tabs did seem a bit random for a while until it seemed to not work at all, suspect it was related to a setting that doesn't work properly so now i bookmark all tabs before tuning off.

Found that Acrobat viewer caused most of my memory leak problems...

Time to find a new industry!

I note in older versions that Acrobat within FF would cause a system meltdown if you started scrolling through the document before it had retrieved the entire doc, (ie pulling 100page doc offline and you get impatient for the entire load).

Have not noted the same issue with 4

I'm not a big fan of FF4 either. I've had no issues with it, I just dislike some of the UI choices they've made and how the status bar at the bottom is now their weird toolbar thing that some addons don't know how to use properly.

That said, did you blow away your FF profile fully before reinstall? As I understand it they cite that as one of the biggest issues with upgrades.
