New to crashplan as a product here, I see a lot of file restore settings, but it possible to do a bare metal backup/restore of a computer?

For example if my primary HDD was to fail and got replaced with a blank one could I restore the whole PC and be up and running again?

Edit: Found the answer to my own question: No.. files only.

No you can't with just CrashPlan unfortunately, however I have setup a few people with ShadowProtect using their Continuous Incrementals backup option to an external HDD or somewhere similar and then use Crashplan to backup those images.

Hi Crash Plan discussed here looks very comprehensive but what about NZ hosted online backups?
purely on basis I'd like to support NZ providers if possible.

I have currently about 500GB on HDD ( No programs - just data).
So would need to do HDD transfer to Service Provider to start off with rather than kill my data cap.

$500/year doesn't compare well with the US companies, but it looks like you're going for more a full service to businesses who need reliability and assurance it's working. Probably not ideal for consumers.

Installed CrashPlan on the weekend, was ridiculously easy to setup and get going.

I like how you can sync your backup to a friend's computer (with their unique code) and there's no cost.

I almost set up crashplan on my fiance's laptop on the weekend, but in the end I went with a mapped drive and Robocopy. That way a restore is much easier.
