I can understand customs desire to examine it, and indeed would want them to do so. I do take serious issue with the WAY they examined it, and believe whomever did that should be liable.

That is BS.

I think most Police are decent people doing  a difficult job.

There are definitely bad ones. But, I think they are a small minority.

Keep weeding those ones out!

I think a small minority are good ones, a decent minority are outright bad, and the rest fall in the middle and how they interact with you depends on how bad a week they've had.

Can you still buy airsoft-type pistols in NZ??
How do they make it through customs?

Airsoft guns are purchased through someone who is licensed to bring them in, who also has a good relationship with customs.  From what I understand, customs clears them separately through a separate process and can be collected later.

It used to be quite in depth and strict due to our old laws regarding semi-automatic and automatic rifles.  But the law was recently changed to allow for fully automatic assault airsoft rifles, which has made the process a lot easier. :)  In the past, If a semi-automatic conversion failed during inspection, your gun was likely to be destroyed!

Perhaps if you want to buy a themed motherboard, purchase it through an armorer?  Haha!

And, the story looks to be misleading at best.

Customs say they investigated the story when it first surfaced on social media last week.

They can find no record of the incident at any of their ports.

However, a spokeswoman confirmed that the importer has laid a complaint with Customs over the alleged damage to the machine.

"Customs has no record of inspecting the parcel and the complainant is unable to provide shipping details for us to follow-up," she said.

"Based on the details we have been given by the complainant it is likely that the computer has been inspected en route to New Zealand rather than at the border here due to the fact that the method of resealing this particular package, as advised by the importer, is not one that NZ Customs uses."

From the end user's perspective, it may well have been an NZ Customs job.  Customs have said there is no record of damage, but an investigation is on-going.

Customs are very busy. Probably we have too many import laws, but all the same, that means you have to be totally above board when it comes to customs.

They also have more power than the police, so don't mess with them.

My brother was a cop. He actually left because of corruption, parties held using confiscated drugs from the evidence room, perps getting deliberate upside the head hits on the car, rapant racism.

I saw a cop car use its lights, pull up on a curb, to POST A LETTER.

That said, some cops are really understanding, and they do a very important job.

So IDK where I sit om that. I know police corruption is real, that there really is quite a bit of looking the other way going on, and also I know that cops do a vital job, that is very hard work, and a lot of them get into it for all the right reasons.

I think probably they are both true. Certainly society as it is currently laid out, we can't do without em - those guys can save lives. But we should probably also be watching the watchmen.

Same with customs.
