huxtable: Gahh, this always happens - end up wanting bigger and better! 😁Get the best bang for buck cpu (from this thread = 6500). Get the minimum priced mobo that meets your very near future requires. Get as much cheapest ram you can afford. Don't touch the psu unless it gives trouble. Hdd wait if you can it always gets cheaper. If you need storage now, buy the max bang for buck.
Now I'm actually looking at going all the way up to i5 6500, to eek the most out of $700 budget - I can get that, mobo, RAM and 1TB HDD for $700 - current PSU will tide me over until after xmas (it's 620W but just don't want to rely on it forever due to its age).
Anyone going to talk me out of i5 6500?i feel like it's only $40 more than 6400 and will at least give clearly better performance than i3 and won't need upgraded for a good long while...
