Considering you can get cheap AOC monitors with a 5 year warranty I would also expect a very expensive and high end monitor to last at least that long.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Got a reply, which to be honest I think is reasonable and fair.

Thanks for reaching out, I have double checked with management and we believe that this monitor did have a good amount of use out of it while in your care, as this is the case the best we can offer is a partial refund of 50% at this time. Please let me know your stance and if you want to still proceed to CGA.

Given I can pick up a 32” LG Ultrafine for $650 nowadays so is about right.

Thoughts?

So that's $700 or near about??... Personally I would grab it with both hands,

To get any more you're gonna have to drag them through the disputes tribunal, and now they can rock up and say that we made a reasonable offer, which will likely be a big plus for them in the adjudicators books..

Totally. Given than it’s definitely served more than 50% of its expected life.

Have to admit that PB Tech were good here.

... but not without pushing.

Many people would not have pushed as you did - so they get away with initial rejections.

If you are happy with the outcome, then that is all that counts.

Glad to hear it worked out, I've been pleasantly surprised today by another PBTech CGA outcome.

My 34" Xiaomi Mi Ultrawide monitor developed horizontal scan lines last week, purchased in June 2022. Found a bodge fix on YouTube but decided to try the CGA before opening it up.

I dropped it into the Manukau service center on Saturday and went through the usual out of warranty discussion with the guy on the counter. Explained the CGA trumps warranty and that it wasn't that old, he said 4 year threshold for a monitor and I said great because this was 3 and a half. He asked me to confirm again and said it's going to take a long time, asked him why and he wouldn't elaborate.

The whole interaction took around 15 min and I left expecting to chase them some time in late Jan. Then today, I get an email and a text with $600 store credit because they don't stock that model anymore. Happy with that, now all I have to do is choose a replacement and to decide whether up upgrade or not.

Just wish you didn't have to go through the painful discussions up front with some retailers.

ALtho guess depends on the specs yours had.
