It is indeed the beautiful Ms Ryder.

4 workspaces (is what I use, but you can have more, or less of course), unless you count the Windows Vista running in VMWare in the upper left workspace too.

WINDOWS KEY-E does the "show all the workspaces" thing in the second shot, you can move windows around like that, and double click a screen to go to that screen. With vairous fancy animation effects.

4 gig ram, Core-2 Quad, 64bit Ubuntu
