hey... not sure if this is the right place for this post, so if it's in the wrong place then my apologies.
My nokia 3650 is faulty (yes i know it's old) when i start it up it comes up with the white screen with the nokia logo appearing down in the bottom, and then nothing happens from there... i've tried soft and hard resetting to no avail, tried to start in safe mode, nothing helped.

My question is quite simply are there any places that you guys would recommend in and around the auckland cbd area / west auckland that might be able to repair this fault (i assume it's only something like reloading software / flashing to fix it).
I've had a look at mobilefonerepair.com but as they are in south auckland and i am in west auckland with no form of personal transport (with the exception of public) i decided it would be prudent to check if anyone had any recommendations for closer service providers, and even possibly users on this forum with the hardware / knowledge to perform the repair for a reasonable fee.

Mobile Fone Repair is the only one I've heard of that do this kind of work, there's nothing out west or in the CBD that I'm aware of.

It would pay to phone MFR first and check that they can actually service your phone. Also ask what the costs are: They will no doubt charge an inspection fee whether or not you go ahead with the repair.

It may just be a better idea to buy a new phone...

P.S. If you think it's worth going ahead with the repair at MFR, the best way is to send your phone by courier from your local Post Shop together with your credit card details. It will save a long drive and/or bus trip.

k, i'll give them a bell and see what they have to say. I'd rather not get a new fone because i just got this one off trade me and it was fine until i started loading stuff from my memory card onto it... doh!

gave mobilefonerepair a ring..... $50.60 as an upfront assessment fee, and then they will tell me how much they will charge me... wtf? i mean from reading around on 3650's it seems to be a common fault and would liekly require little more than reinstalling the software... where the hell does the $50 assessment fee come from when reinstalling the software would take less than half an hour?...

Anyway, anyone have any other places they can recommend, i went to vodafone and they mentioned something about "mobile fone doctor" in auckland cbd on franshaw or flanshaw street or something but i couldn't find a website or any information about them...

in case anyone was interested i went looking for mobile fone doctor... turns out it was on fanshawe st in the city... key word being WAS, it seems to have closed down, so i went and asked at the vodafone office that was near it... they recommended mobile fone repair...

You are probably a bit stuck... Check if the "nokia software updater" is compatible with your phone...

Try asking for a "no assessment" software reflash, They might just do it, they used to charge $30 for that alone but probably have long pulled that. Try and avoid them opening the handset or repair charges apply, maybe I should buy one of those pirate nokia flash things off the net.

it doesn't appear that the "nokia software updater" has support for my phone. i think mobilefonerepar mentioned something about updating the software for $28 (no assessment fee), but im not entirely sure if this involves flashing and reinstalling... i might just have to go in and try and speak to a tech while i'm there, the people on the phone don't seem to know much of anything...
well if you do get a pirate nokia flasher then i'll happily be your first customer :)
