I'd like to start a new topic about this firmware upgrade, because the other N95 topic is getting too big.

So, the new firmware is out, but be aware of: it is only for the debranded (Operator free) N95s at the moment.
The Operator versions (VF, Orange, O2, 3, etc) will come out sooner or later (for VF rather later)

Big improvements and new stuffs in this version, let's try to collect people's opinion about it in this topic!

Does anyone have their alarms go off when the phone is switched off? Worked fine before upgrade but now when the alarm goes off (when the phone if off), the phone powers on and the whole screen is just lit up with battery indicator icon slighly visible. Only way to recover is to pull the battery out.

Good idea with the new forum. No idea on the alarm prob, you mean the phone is totally switched off but the alarm still goes off? Must try that out.
Anyone figure how to use videoringtones? Cant see where to use them.
Love the new search feature and when RotateMe 2 appears should be the bees knees!

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Have you checked the new NGage icon in the menu?

It has two demo games: Fifa08 and a racing game. And the intro is awesome when you start the NGage application!

This works fine for me. Can probably be sorted with a hard reset or reinstallation of the upgrade.

Very nice intro alright. Will be good when Ngage comes out, unfortunate though that most of the games won't take advantage of the 3D acceleration on offer (to increase the potential user base for the platform).

Wow, this sounds exciting. I really want to update to this new version but I'm going 2 the United States and really want to have my phone in working order while I'm there so I'll wait untill I get back to update it.

I like the sound of this RAM increase. That is most needed!

Also, I didn't know that the N95 had a motion senser in it. That is pretty cool. Wow!

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

The increased RAM is only part of the story there. Seriously increased application and RAM handling, along with demand paging, make that RAM go much further. True multi-tasking possible now like on the 8GB model. You'll feel like you have a new phone, its that much better.

Unfortunately the camera still doesnt remember my settings, so I have to set the sharpness to soft every time I open the camera, but maybe it's only my problem.

Otherwise this upgrade gave a huge boost for the sw, indeed like a new phone!

What else?
- new icon for Nokia Music Store (no service in NZ, but you can visit the U.K. store already)
- New icon called My Nokia (it says this service is not available in your country..)
- New icon called Share online (for pics and videos)

Camera remembers my settings for the User Defined setting mode, which it didn't before. I'm not sure that the Soft setting is required any longer now though, many people (including knowledgeable folks like Mazor at Symbian-Freak) have commented that the noise reduction seems lessened in this firmware.

I think I might need to change my product code to get this update. I have 12.0.013 RM-159. The update software is saying there is no update available. Can anyone tell me which product code I can change to so that I can get the new firmware?

I tried this and it worked:

0534841 EURO1 - Sand  or
0536062 EURO1 - Plum

Full list is here. Did anybody try the NZ code?

What do you mean User Defined setting mode?

NZTECHFREAK - Thanks for testing, I have alread tried re-flashing the phone but same result. Isn't re-flashing the same as a hard reset?

My phone can see the that new firmware is needed but I can't seem to get past the software updater taking me back to the Nokia website.

Any thoughts ?

Thanks.  Craig
