The GF picked up a new new Titan yesterday from Telecom and I have been trying to get ActiveSync to work over bluetooth but so far have had no luck.

The Connection Settings in Windows Mobile Device Centre allows connections from both USB and Bluetooth. USB works fine and the device syncs perfectly, however after many pairing attemts from the Titan to the PC, the Titan does not want to ActiveSync over bluetooth.

Is anybody able to point out where I may be going wrong.

The PC is a Sony Vaio VGN-CR11GH running Windows Vista Home Basic and Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1 with built in Bluetooth with Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba as well as Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007.

Check firewall - for example the Windows Live OneCare v1.0 incorrectly blocked WMDC. Other may be doing the same.

Also, when you pair from your Pocket PC, does it show "ActiveSync" in the list of services you can use?

Firewall looks fine, and it does sync fine with USB. No ActiveSync in list of service, there was 2 which (Off the top of my head as the GF has just left for work with the Titan) were COM Port and Sound Device.

If it shows "Serial Port" instead of ActiveSync it means WMDC is not "seeing" the Bluetooth. Perhaps you should create an incoming COM port - open the Bluetooth properties in Control Panel and create a new one there - althought it should be automatic. but worth trying.

Something tells me it's the damn Toshiba stack...

I created an incoming COM port (COM1) on the PC and set this up in WMDC and tried to pair the device, but am still only getting Serial Port and Wireless Stereo as the listed services.

Bummer. It could be the Toshiba software then. I have an Acer with Widcomm and it works fine. It also works fine with the Microsoft stack.

Is it possible to change the software stack the Bluetooth uses? The bluetooth on this machine is used for nothing at present so activesync is all we want to use it for.

If this is a built-in Bluetooth adapter I wouldn't recommend doing any changes otherwise it will just simply stop working. If it's an external adapter then you could uninstall the software and use the Windows stack.

It's built in so i'll have to stick with it. I'll see if there is an update for it tho.

I've done lots of googling and it looks like there is some issues with the Toshiba stack and ActiveSync. I've found a tutorial which looks promising. Will post once I've had a chance to try it our and see if it works.

I have Activesync working over Bluetooth. Is there any way to make this connect and sync automatically however? My Nokia N73 does it automatically when in range of the Bluetooth but on the Titan we seem to have to go into Activesync and choose "Connect via Bluetooth" before it will start syncing.
