I searched and eventually found the fix in the registry of all of the WM5 / WM6 devices on sale in NZ that disconnects your data session if not used for a set period of time. knocked my head against the wall abit first but stoked i kept searching.

No software apart from a specified Reg editor is required. Simple and increased battery and performance when using exchange or pop3 auto sync etc.

This would be no use if you are using push mail correct? as the data connection needs to be active all the time correct?

You can post the registry key here. As for registry editor - there are plenty in the market.

And bbman if you post the registry keys Id be happy to whip up a quick CAB file (or app) in order to do it without a reg editor.

Correct, however that is half the reason WM5/Wm6 devices on CDMA/WCDMA and even GSM have poor battery on direct push, they are connected all of the time. I have tested with a corporate on 5 min / 10 min auto sync and that works fine.

On CDMA devices and GSM often calls do not come through whilst direct push is enabled and the connection is in dormant but connected state.

Direct push for that reason for many clients is more of hindrance and this sort of fix makes life a bunch easier.

Thats why I posted, i knew some smart person would know how to do this!! excellernt, note some devices like the Agent require an extra string to be created.

Here are the Telecom devices i have done, the VNZ devices should be no different!
