Hi

Have recently got one of these phones off TradeMe. But don't understand the in's and out's of charging the battery.

If I leave it in the USB cradle overnight, when I look at it in the morning the charging light is still amber (charging) rather than solid green (charged).

The Today screen shows the battery very low icon (with the exclamation mark).

BUT

If I remove the device from the cradle and look at the Settings>Power battery condition, it shows it to be fully charged but the battery icon still says very low.

I'd be grateful if someone could explain. Thanks

Mark

Is this Today screen item a plugin or the Pocket PC icon in the status bar, on the top? It may be an old battery...

Hi
Its the first icon in the status bar at the top, alongside the phone connection and speaker icons.

Yep. It could be an old battery. Can you find another one just for test, perhaps on a Vodafone shop close to you?

Hi
Unfortunately from my investigations it seems to be impossible to buy replacement batteries for these phones. I will be delighted if someone can show me that this is not correct!

Hi All

In case anyone else has this problem.....

I reset the phone and it seems to be OK again - for now.

Two things to try.

as long as you don't have any important data/applications installed., Start, settings, hit on memory, select backup GPRS setting to "flash" as you'll loose the lot.

press in left "hard reset" onece only (it should not reboot just stay "dead")
and charge overnight. This should cure your problems. cylce it. They get funny if left to die totally.

Batteries are available, they ar internal and must be replaced by a service centre. (DO-it-yourself at your own risk. it's quite easy)

an external "piggyback" battery is available.

When is standby it should only be showing the green flashing light

the screen should be off. (i have mine set to 2 minutes)
the backlight should be off. (i have mine set to 30 sec)

Mine with the backlight on lasts an hour and a half.
backlight off screen on, about 6 hours,
totally standby, about 2 weeks though you can'treally use it after a week as it just gets too flat. (no SMS, calls etc.)
