Planning to get HTC Touch Cruise and here are the specifications

In the Network Specification it says it supports,
1) HSDPA/UMTS: 2100 MHz (Europe), 850/1900 MHz (USA)
2) HSDPA: Up to 384kbps for upload and 3.6Mbps for download

I suppose that has support for Vodafone 3G network here?? This mobile has everything and looks really sleek and nice!

Vodafone's 3G network in NZ is 900/2100MHz, so I'd say that it would work

My bro got this a couple of weeks ago. Looks good! GPS works fine I believe, I will bring him up to this post so he can tell you himself.

Yup, I got this a couple of weeks ago and so far very happy with it. There are only two niggling issues so far:

1. The backlight level when the device is locked is too low. However, changing the registry settings doesn't seem to stick. I can change the appropriate key value but it resets itself after soft reset. All other registry changes seem to persist just fine.

2. The retainer in the SD card slot gave way. I can still use the slot but the card is then only held in by the cover. Fearing it will damage something else I have left my new 8GB card out. Be careful where you buy from since this issue has taken quite some time for my seller to sort out. He doesn't seem to have a reliable (god forbid, if any?!) channel for technical support. So far he still has not managed to "get hold of" a repairer - goodness only knows what that means.

Other than that it's all good. GPS works fine but there's probably no software included - just like mine. There are free maps of NZ in Garmin format available but then you have to buy the Garmin software, which is not available in NZ. If you look on their website it's only available in US, UK, and Europe. I use Navitel, which works okay-ish but a lot of fiddly work to do to the maps. You can download the map sources and work on it yourself if you're that way inclined. Software for Navitel map editing, the cryptically named MapEdit, is free to download.

I'd love to hear more from others who have this phone too.

Ah...just spotted a potentially dodgy ambiguity there...

I'm sure there are plenty of technical support and repairers out there - it's just the dude who sold it to me is having difficulties getting my phone fixed! Very frustrating....

Right...after my comments I better give you an update on my warranty issue.

It appears no repairers in NZ will deal with the Touch Cruise for warranty repairs. It has something to do with the deal between HTC and Telecom, which means the repairers can only deal with Telecom's phones. In my case the Touch Cruise is a Vodafone phone. That means my phone has to go to Melbourne for repairs. It's a right royal PITA and may be something to be taken into consideration before buying HTC phones on the Vodafone network...
